Oye-Ekiti born Yemi Ayodele Ayeni dumps PDP, joins APC 

In a significant political shift, Yemi Ayodele Ayeni Esq., a distinguished legal mind and philanthropist from Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, has announced his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

(APC) after a three-year hiatus from party politics. The 70s-born legal expert made this announcement following extensive consultations with his political cadre and stakeholders within his community.

Having achieved numerous accolades throughout his academic and professional career, including a B.Sc. in Sociology from the University of Ilorin and a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Edinburgh Napier University, Ayeni’s commitment to education and policy reform has always been paramount. He has held various leadership positions, such as Secretary General of the Students’ Union Government at the University of Ilorin and serving on the Board of Port Harcourt Junior Chamber International.

With a passion for justice and human rights, Ayeni furthered his aspirations within the legal sphere by studying law at the Royal Docks School of Law, University of East London, and becoming a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria after attending the Nigerian Law School.

His dedication to the legal profession is highlighted by his pursuit of a master’s degree in international law from Robert Gordon University, where he is also currently completing a PhD focused on judicial independence and accountability in Nigeria.

YAA’s philanthropic endeavors have significantly impacted the lives of many in Ekiti State, particularly through his initiative providing free JAMB forms to indigent students and covering tuition fees for those in higher education. His commitment to community upliftment is matched only by his ambition to create political changes through effective governance.

Ayeni previously contested for a seat in the House of Assembly under the PDP in 2014, but after facing setbacks during the primary elections, he opted to regroup and focus on his legal and academic pursuits. His return to the political arena with the APC signifies a renewed commitment to influence change positively within Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.

On Friday, June 13, 2025, Yemi Ayodele Ayeni alongside his supporters will officially join the APC, marking a new chapter in his political journey. His decision is expected to be well-received by his constituents, given his longstanding dedication to improving the lives of the people through both legal expertise and philanthropic initiatives.
