Tinubu takes oath of office, becomes 16th President of Nigeria

Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima have been sworn in as the president and vice-president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

President Tinubu who took the oath of office administered by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola on Monday was officially sworn in by 10:38 am at Eagle Square, the venue of the inauguration ceremony.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu defeated Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, in the February 25, 2023, Presidential election.

The new President and the former President, Muhammadu Buhari also took salutes from the guard of honour and the military. This was followed by 21 gun salutes as has been the tradition.

The event which has been termed historic in Africa was graced by different Presidents from the African region and other World Leaders.
