This is not the best of time for foremost financial institution, Guaranty Trust Bank, as some customers of the bank are planning to team up to fight the bank over illegal transaction.
On 13th of December, 2020, the bank was under a severe attack from customers following persistent complaints and reports of illegal transactions from their accounts.
Kola Joel, a customer of GTBank was a victim of this administrative fraud and on several occasions wrote to the bank to express his grievance but all efforts to recover his money prove abortive.
We learnt that some customers are threatening to opt-out of the bank since the bank is no longer a safe place to keep their hard earned money.
Prior to that, some loyal customers have promised to challenge the bank authorities in any way possible if this act continues.
Kola who mentioned that the affected customers of the bank are united in “fighting this administrative fraud” said the bank over time, developed a penchant for initiating transactions on customers’ accounts without their knowledge.
Some of the affected customers confirmed that when the deductions were initially noticed, official complaints were made to the bank with promise from the bank that the trend will stop while a refund was promised.
Meanwhile, despite the bank promising to refund the money, the affected customers threatened to ensure that the illegal deductions and transactions stop while advising customers to be very careful of using GTbanks.
