Customs Boss new wife ex-boyfriend demands payment of N9Million spent during their relationship
Zubairu Dalhatu Malamai, the Ex-boyfriend of Customs Boss Hameed Ali, new wife, Hajiya Zainab Abdullahi, has demanded payment of N9Million he spent during their relationship.
The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd) married over the weekend.
The customs boss married his new bride, Hajiya Zainab Abdullahi in a wedding ceremony devoid of fanfare because of the prevalence of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
In a recent letter through his lawyer, Zubairu Dalhatu Malamai, has now demanded that he is paid the Nine Million Naira he spent during their relationship.
In the letter which was sighted by LailasNews, his lawyers listed the expenses which they want repaid.

It seems the request by Hajiya Zainab Abdullahi ex is based on an an archaic common law remedy that allows the jilted lover or betrothed to sue for a breach of promise to marry. That said, the requirements to prove such a breach are very strict and that cause of action has been abrogated in many jurisdictions.
The law allows this, however the burden of proof is on the plaintiff to show that these were either loans or specific amounts spent towards the marriage which was assured by her. As long as they were gifts or trips made during normal courtship, nothing will be returned.
