Female bomber strikes Borno town, kills 2 as 4 are injured

Two female bombers attacked Mafa local government in Borno state in the night of Tuesday, August 7, killing two persons and injuring four others. Channels Television reports that the attack on Mafa, hometown of Governor Babagana Zulum, was carried out after the bombers infiltrated the town in the night of Tuesday, August 7.

According to the report, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) removed the bodies of the victims while the injured were transferred to the Maiduguri specialist hospital for treatment. In a related development, Katori, a village near the recently attacked Dalori internally displaced persons camp, was in the night of Tuesday, August 7, attacked as suspected insurgents set houses ablaze and looted food items as villagers. The situation was, however, calmed by men of the Operation Lafiya Dole, who foiled the plans of the suspected insurgents. Dambatta confirmed that 11 houses were affected but that the residents survived.
